Happy Birthday
I know I'm a day late but it's only because yesterday was so hard. Not that today is much easier. I hope you had a beautiful Heavenly Birthday Mom. I love you.
Remember on Derek's Birthday you had those acrylic nails and you thought you had lit the candle, but it turned out to be your thumb nail that you lit! :)
I love you and miss you.
Coffee
I was on my way home from dropping off the kids at school and drinking my coffee and it reminded me of when we got to make your cup of coffee for you. We'd add just enough cream to make it golden color and wah-lah! your cup of coffee was ready. It was so neat as a kid to see the creamer swirl and practically mix on its own.
I love you Mom. Today is Dads birthday. I know you know that. I miss you mom. so much.
How we got Benji
Boy oh boy, I would bring home animals all the time. I think Benji is the funniest of all the stories. I don't remember how we found Benji. (When i say "we" that would be me and my partner in crime twin sis Tina) For some reason we didn't want to ask mom if we could keep him. so where do you hide a little dog you named Benji???? In your back yard of course. At night we'd open up our window and because it was missing the screen we'd just hop out and play with Benji :) By night two Mom came in and said, "What are you girls doing?" We'd been caught, lol.  Thankfully Mom found the humor in it all and loved little dogs as it was and we got to keep him. :)
Benji was the dog that knew you were coming home from school and waited for you.We loved him so much that we threw him a birthday party complete with a microwave chocolate cake. Thankfully he didn't die :)
Remind me to one day tell you about Oreo the cat.....
Lisa
Summers in Southern California with mom. That meant trips to Huntington Beach of course. The coolers got packed with tuna fish sandwiches with cheese, grapes, Shasta cola and Doritos!!!!!!! yummmos. We'd drive down Magnolia blvd. I knew we were almost there when we passed the animal shelter/hospital on the left. We were minutes away when we turned right at the smoke stacks.
We'd park and i imagine the kids just dashed to the beach leaving the adults to get the stuff unloaded. But that was ok, because we were always at the same spot... between lifeguard stands 12 and 13. We would literally stay the whole day there. The older kids boogie boarding. Tina and I digging holes, playing in the waves. watching the bubbles to dig up sand crabs. Sometimes i'd bring them home and boy did they stink up my room when they died. gag.
We'd take breaks to eat and sunbathe a little like mom. It wasn't just our family there. any of the times Lollie could have been with us. Kathy and Wendy Leachman. I'm sure more times than not we dragged little Derek with us and who knows how many friends my brother Derek would bring.
The drive home mom would claim the shower first. As an adult now i don't blame her. When i was a kid i certainly didn't understand her need to shower right away. I just know i was always so tired when we got home i just wanted to lay in the sun coming through the window.
